Rotation Notification Improvements

Rotation notifications just got better! We recently made the following improvements to the rotation notification experience:

Rotation Block Introduction Email for Rotation Director

It is now possible to automatically send an email to the rotation director when a new rotation block starts. That email includes:

  • Basic information about the rotation block (Name, Dates, etc.)
  • A list of all of the learners who are on the rotation.
  • Links to the rotation evaluations for all of the learners.

To enable sending these notifications, select this option on the rotation configuration page:

Centralized Notification Management

In the past, if you wanted to change the notification settings for your rotations, you’d need to change the options on each rotation. Now, you can manage the notification options from a single place for all rotations:

It’s still possible to configure notifications on a per-rotation basis as well.

Fewer Emails, Better Content

At the end of a rotation, faculty members and learners often received a flood of emails for all of the feedback they needed to provide. We’ve made the following improvements so that fewer emails are sent and those emails are more useful:

  • Instead of sending an email to a faculty member for each learner they need to provide feedback on, we’ll now send ONE email with links to all of the feedback requests.
  • Instead of sending an email to a learner for each faculty member they need to provide teaching feedback on, we’ll now send ONE email with links to all of the feedback requests.
  • Learner rotation introduction emails now contain information about who the associated faculty is, the rotation dates, and information about providing teaching feedback.

Finer-Grained Options

We’ve split the option for sending summative feedback requests into two so that the following scenario is now possible:

  • Learners automatically receive requests to provide teaching feedback on associated faculty.
  • The rotation director automatically receives requests to provide summative feedback.
  • The associated faculty does not receive requests to provide summative feedback.

In the past, this wasn’t possible due to how the options were presented.

More to Come

We’ll continue to improve rotations and their notifications in the near future. If you have improvements that you’d like to see, we’d love to know about it - email us at [email protected] or send us a tweet.
